Head of Student Wellbeing - Kate Daniels
Kate is a BACP-registered psychotherapist. She liaises with the wider College welfare team and oversees wellbeing service design and delivery. Her aims are to improve student mental health literacy and better understand the key risks and protective factors for student wellbeing.
Kate provides one-to-one psychological and emotional support to Downing students, including:
- One-off wellbeing chats and check-ins
- A reflective space in which to feel heard and understood
- Advice and guided self-help on themes such as stress and anxiety, low mood, self-care and coping strategies
- Signposting to relevant services within College, the University or the NHS
- Assessments and consultations for more complex mental health difficulties
- Crisis support as needed
Kate also coordinates and delivers wellbeing workshops and activities.
Chaplain – Keith Eyeons
Keith Eyeons is available to provide pastoral care and support for all members of the college, whatever their beliefs or background. All are welcome to talk to him confidentially on any matter, and he is happy to have students in his office in O8. He also organises the very popular “Keith’s café” on Thursday from 3.30pm, where many students go to get free food and drink, and socialise outside the chapel.

Porters
If you’re ever feeling very unwell or unsafe the porters are available 24/7. Their phone number is 01223 334800, make sure you have this number saved in your phone!
College welfare officers
College welfare officers are available if you need any help, and are very easy to talk to. You can have a chat with them if you see them around college, or go to the organised drop in sessions and welfare events they organise. They offer peer support and can help signpost you to other services if needed.
Tutor
Your tutor takes an interest in your wellbeing during your time at Cambridge and can offer help and advice on any matter: social, academic, financial, medical or personal. You will meet your tutor at the start and end of every term, but you can organise to meet them at any point during term.
